A slow day in Monteverde Costa Rica... |
|
All of these amateur Monteverde Costa Rica pictures were taken on the same morning with a digital camera. I just spent half a day in mid August 2005 walking at a slow pace in the Monteverde Reserve from 8 am until 2 pm barely walking 3km (2 miles), not trying to see anything spectacular like jaguars or quetzals or doing a guided tour or anything fancy. Just taking the time to look around, under & above me. Details, details. Monteverde is about the the lush jungle and all the life hiding in it. Made possible because it's a cloud forest keeping everything moist with it's daily mist; plants on plants on trees. Layers of life. Visiting the same reserve with a naturalist guide is a totally different experience. That will be the object of another photo gallery I am working on (at an equally slow pace :-). Note that the Santa Elena Reserve as a similar environment but with 10 times less visitors. -All photos © Jacques Bertrand, webmaster of monteverdeinfo.com & Monteverde resident. |
