The town of Santa Elena has much to offer visitors – there are cafes, restaurants, bars, artisan shops and more. It is, however, the surrounding outdoor area of Monteverde that most people are interested in exploring. Two cloud forest reserves offer travelers a glimpse into this unique ecosystem, which hosts some 400 species of birds, 100 species of animals, and thousands of insect species. These forests can be explored through hiking trails and suspension bridges, as well as canopy tours, which send participants flying across canyons and through forest canopies along sturdy steel zip lines.
The Tree House Hotel is set within downtown Santa Elena and housed within the area’s highest building. The rooms are located on the top (third) floor, and most have balconies that look out over the city and surrounding hillside. The rooms vary in size and number of beds, but all come equipped with orthopedic mattresses, a private hot water bathroom, safe deposit box and fan. Wireless internet allows guests to stay connected to friends and family at home, and cable TV helps to fill any downtime that guests may have between activities.
The Tree House Hotel is a short walk or ride from most of the area’s attractions. It is built directly above several restaurants and boutiques, and is very close to a supermarket, café, shops and more.
