Finca Tierra Viva

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve are spectacular examples of this area’s unique ecosystem. Visitors can immerse themselves in these forests in a variety of ways, including hikes along trails, walks along suspension bridges, and tours along zip-lines. Aside from the reserves, travelers will enjoy visits to local museums and coffee plantations.

Of Finca Terra Viva’s expansive property, 60% is primary forest, 30% is cow and horse pastures, and 10% is devoted to reforestation. The farm’s goal is to both protect its immediate cloud forest and educate its guests on healthy and sustainable environmental practices. While staying here, guests will be able to take part in the farm’s day-to-day activities—they can help milk cows or feed baby calves, learn how cheese is made or participate in organic farming. In addition to these things, guests can also enjoy horseback rides, day hikes and night tours of the farm’s spectacular property.

Accommodations consist of both rooms in a lodge and private casitas. The lodge is wooden and surrounded by forests and gardens. Its six bedrooms are rustic and agreeable, and all have private hot water bathrooms, one double bed and one bunk bed. The casitas have two bedrooms each and are capable of sleeping four people. These come equipped with a private hot water bathroom, living room, kitchenette and terrace.

The dining room is located on the bottom floor of the main lodge. Here, guests can enjoy traditional Costa Rican cuisine upon request. Meals are served family-style three times a day.
